Our Mission: To empower those who struggle with poverty, exclusion
and racism while assisting them to meet their basic needs.

Advocacy and Support

Advocacy is offered in the areas of employment, housing, consumer issues, and health care access.

Health Insurance

Online enrollment in government sponsored health programs such as Healthy Families, Medi-CAL, and Healthy Kids.

Food Stamps

Familia Center prescreens for eligibility and assists with the first phase of the application process.

Educational Workshops

Familia Center hosts workshops in Spanish on topics such as domestic violence, the signs of drug use, who qualifies for food stamps and family values in a new culture. For information about upcoming workshops please contact Rosa Reyes at rreyes@familiacenter.org or call 831-423-5747 ext. 11.

Form and Application Assistance

Staff provides help in completing job and rental applications and in creating employment resumes. We also assist with EDD online applications.

Translation

Oral Translation is provided from English to Spanish for clients who come to Familia Center with English language forms. Translation is also provided via telephone with landlords, employers or government agenices.

Glucose testing

The Women's Health Center provides glucose, blood pressure and anemia screening once a month. Please call for exact dates and times 423-5747 ext 15.

After school homework club

Home work assistance is provided to youth ages 6-11 years. Please contact Narciso Deleon at 423-5747 ext 14 or ndeleon@familiacenter.org
Volunteers are also welcome to contact Narciso.

Teen Home Work Club

Assisting low-income youth ages 12-17. The group meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 pm. Volunteers welcome to contact ndeleon@familiacenter.org or call 831-423-5747 ext 16

Summer Fun!

Familia Center provides a summer recreation program targeting youth who live in the Beach Flats and Lower Ocean Street neighborhoods. One session is for children 6-10 years old and another for youth 11-16 years old. For information on start dates please contact ndeleon@familiacenter.org or call 831-423-5747 ext. 16. Volunteers are also needed who can provide transportation.

Food Distribution

Is held on the Second and Fourth Wednesday of every month at 3:30 pm -5:30 pm.
Clothing is also distributed during this time.
