Volunteers
Volunteering opportunities are available with our youth and food distribution programs.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to apply, it is not necessary that you speak Spanish.
What Familia Center requires of volunteers:
- be available one afternoon a week Monday-Thursday for 2.5 hours, for a minimum of 10 weeks.
- meet with staff for an orientation
- select to work from 2:30-5:00 pm with the After School Homework Club or from 5:30 to 8:00 pm with the Teen Club.
- volunteers over 18 years are required to be finger printed
- high school or middle school volunteers do not need to be finger printed, if under 18.

Food Distribution
Help is needed in preparing bags for distribution on the day before the distribution and packaging rice and beans.

After school homework club
Home work assistance is provided to youth ages 6-11 years. Please contact Narciso Deleon at 423-5747 ext 14 or ndeleon@familiacenter.org

Teen Home Work Club
Assisting low-income youth ages 12-17. The group meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 pm. Volunteers welcome to contact ndeleon@familiacenter.org or call 831-423-5747 ext 16
Summer Fun!
Familia Center provides a summer recreation program targeting youth who live in the Beach Flats and Lower Ocean Street neighborhoods. One session is for children 6-10 years old and another for youth 11-16 years old. For information on start dates please contact ndeleon@familiacenter.org or call 831-423-5747 ext. 16. Volunteers are also needed who can provide transportation.
